The mission of the HPC laboratory is to deliver reliable, sustainable computing resources and services to facilitate the use of high-performance computing and to meet the small scale and midrange computational demands of the scientific research community in the academic institutions and high-tech SMEs located all over the country and the region.
Bulgaria officially joined the EuroHPC on the 13th of October 2017. The High Performance Computing laboratory equipped with the second fastest supercomputer in the country, is a major pillar in developing the European Open Science policy agenda which aims to increase the quality and impact of science, building on the achievements of Open Access and Big Data analytics.
The HPC laboratory team offers the best support in both scientific research and industrial applications in the country.
Research Activities are carried out by the HPC team and project partners aiming at the evaluation of application container technology, e.g. Docker, to provide a flexible and performance optimised environment on which to execute portable, user-customized applications.
HPC laboratory at the Sofia Tech Park offers a well-established and successful mechanism for fostering collaborative research, building cross-national collaborations, and allowing computational scientists to contribute to the skills development of junior researchers and/or researchers from regions in Bulgaria with limited access to HPC facilities.
The goal of the Networking Activity is to work on enlargement of the user community not only by involving research teams from a larger number of institutions, but also by connecting with other research initiatives and groups.

The HPC laboratory at the Sofia Tech Park provides basic and supplemental services for university institutions and supports the Simulation Sciences, which are among the focuses of the Smart Specialization Strategy in Bulgaria.
The NESTUM cluster is used for meteorological services as well.
The HPC customers are also PhD students and staff of the Sofia University, Technical University, Medical University as well as other educational and research institutions and companies.
The Nestum Cluster, which the laboratory has at its disposal, is the second most efficient supercomputer in Bulgaria.

Prof. Dr. Ana I. Proykova, Doctor Habil, is a Full Professor at the University of Sofia, the Head of the High Performance Computing Laboratory at the Sofia Tech Park and the Chair of the European Strategy Working Group on Data, Computing and Digital Infrastructures. In her professional career she has worked at universities around the world, including Belgium, Germany, Israel, Italy, the USA, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and in the 1980s – the USSR. A member of four European advisory groups (AG) for Horizon2020 Work programme, namely on the Future and Emerging Technologies, on Science With and For Society, on Gender, on International Cooperation.
She is a member of the Horizon2020 Program Committee on the Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Processing, and Biotechnology and a member of the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER).
