BioInfoTech Laboratory works in the field of Bioinformatics, Bioautomatics and Bioengineering. We are developing the latest industries in Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology, Biomedical Instrumentation and Bioinformatics.

Virtual & Augmented Reality

The aim of the laboratory is to develop and apply virtual and augmented reality and the related innovative technologies, work methods, tools and equipment in various fields of industry, science, education and social life in Bulgaria and other EU countries.

3D creativity and rapid prototyping of new products

This lab’s mission is to create innovative practices and to build unique and accessible opportunities for research and development in the field of 3D creativity through systems for quick physical manifestation of new ideas and products in order to shorten the time to market.

Intelligent Communication Infrastructures

Performs measurements and testing in the areas of railway traffic management and security systems (trains, trams and metro), 5G communications and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Artificial Intelligence and CAD Systems

The laboratory aims in collaboration with research organizations and industrial clusters, to become a leading center that facilitates the access to specialized software and CAD systems and contributes to the development and maintenance of highly qualified specialists in the field of artificial intelligence.

Micro Nano Lab (MinoLab)

Early fault detection, correction and failure analysis in micro and nano elements, modules and systems, chip-level prototypes.


In 2015, the Research and Development and Innovation Consortium and ESI CEE united their efforts to carry out joint activities and cooperate with the common goal to establish the Cybersecurity Laboratory, managed by the Research and Development and Innovation Consortium, as a leading research center in the field of cybersecurity.

High Performance Computing

HPC Lab offers unique solutions of complex problems like uncovering hidden characteristics, exploring unknown correlations in natural phenomena as well as predicting market trends and even estimating customer preferences using techniques like HPC (high-performance computing), AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Big Data analytics.

Drug Design and Development

The laboratory performs research based on “In Silico” methods, physicochemical and biopharmaceutical analysis for pharmaceutical purposes.

In Vitro – laboratory for evaluation of biological activity and toxicity

The laboratory provides state of the art equipment in the following areas: cell cultures, DNA analyses, microbiology, pathogenic microorganisms, GMOs, ecotoxicological research, in vitro plant cultures etc.

Extraction of Natural Products and Synthesis of Bioactive Compounds

The laboratory is a part of the BioPharm Lab Complex in Sofia Tech park. The primary mission of the laboratory is to support the utilization of the existing biodiversity in Bulgaria – medicinal and aromatic plants, which are of high quality and contain active ingredients, thus stimulating sustainable development and economic growth.
