The management of Sofia Tech Park and the Ambassador of Israel in Bulgaria HE Yossi Levi Sfari discussed potential opportunities for cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship, technology and innovation. The meeting took place on 23.01.2024 in the science and technology park.

The meeting focused on the development of start-ups, small and medium-sized technology companies, strengthening contacts and partnerships between Bulgarian and Israeli innovative businesses, organizing joint trainings and other events aimed at the innovative ecosystems of the two countries.

The team of Sofia Tech Park presented the opportunities that the Park provides for the development of business, as well as the scientific units that work in the field of cutting-edge technologies and are market-oriented in the direction of creating products or services. The South East European Innovators Program (SEEIP), an incubation program aimed at start-up companies without limitation of the field of the developed products, was presented.

Ambassador Sfari highlighted the long-standing and excellent partnership between Bulgaria and Israel. He also pointed out the excellent transport and communication connectivity between the two countries, which enables the development of trade, tourism, economic and business partnerships. “Despite the situation, Israel’s economy is working even at higher speeds, companies are developing and are open for partnership. He shared the opportunities of the Israeli public accelerator program developed for market-ready start-ups to expand operations, with a focus on leveraging the Israeli ecosystem for business growth and internationalization, to access potential customers, business leaders and investors.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of mutual support in the commercialization, industrialization and internationalization of goods, as well as the development of scientific projects.

Opportunities for cooperation between Sofia Tech Park and similar organizations, science and technology parks and educational institutions in Israel were also discussed.

During the discussions, the potential cooperation of the Bulgarian science and technology park and Israeli organizations for joint application under the “Horizon” program of the European Commission was commented.
