A device with artificial intelligence helping blind people won the grand prize of the fifth student hackathon Hack TUES.

Built-in device with camera and artificial intelligence helping blind people won the first prize at the fifth student hackathon Hack TUES 365 of the Electronic Systems Technology School (TUES) at the Technical University of Sofia. The device “VoiceCV” was created by the “Elsyser” team in which participated Victor Velev from the 10th grade, Petar Gerasimov and Teodor Stanishev from 12th grade. The device can be placed in a hat or a glasses and act as a personal assistant who warn with a voice for existing surrounding objects.

The special prize for a project with built-in microcomputer technology wasfirst introduced in HACK TUES and received the S.P.A.S.( Smart Personal Assistant System) to remotely control devices at home or at the office through mobile phone. The project was developed by Iskren Alexandrov from 8th grade and Angel Stoyanov, Martin Weyer, Martin Georgiev and Dennis Zahariev from 9th grade, by the team named “The phone in the jacket”.

The second award in the hackathon won the GeoSlover Geometrical Geometry Application, which scans the task condition and generates an electronic drawing and solution. The application was made by 12th grade students Telerik Arsov, Martin Dacev, Antonio Milev, Vladislav Georgiev and Petar Milev from the team named “Kakvodoy”.

The Third Hackan Award won the “Babic” team for the Product Chain project using blockchain technology to protect consumers from fake goods on the market. Martin Yordanov from 11th grade and Samuil Georgiev, Anton Yanchev, Ognian Baruch and Georgi Lubenov from 10th grade developed a system for tracking the authenticity of products of the market through a unique QR code that gives information about the product’s path.

Other six projects won special awards during 2019 edition of Hack TUES. This is a unique hackathon organized by students for students. The competition was held from March 15th to 17th at Sofia Tech Park. More than 200 participants, 43 teams with students aged between 8th 12thgrade took part in the event.

More than 60 IT professionals from various companies have been mentoring and juried during the competitions. The hackathon is organized by voluntary team from 11th grade with the support of the Association of graduated TUES and the management of TUES. The most significant projects will be presented in a special exhibition “TUES Fest” on April 20 at TUES.
