A national discussion on “Development of the National Policy for Reducing Seismic Risk through the Construction of Scientific-Applied Seismic Engineering Infrastructure” will be held on November 28 at 9.30 am in Sofia Tech Park, Hall 125 of the Laboratory Complex building. Organizers of the event are the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), the National Center for Seismic Engineering (NCSSI) and Sofia Tech Park.
The forum will discuss problems related to seismic security of buildings and facilities, sites of transport and critical infrastructure, cultural monuments and more. The necessity and expediency of the construction and equipment of a modern laboratory complex for seismic engineering will be discussed as well as the information, technical and financial readiness for this. The participants will be presented with the arguments and studies for setting up such a scientific unit. The laboratory complex will be a unique scientific and applied infrastructure for Bulgaria, in which experimental studies of structures of buildings and facilities will be carried out, as well as technological equipment under static and dynamic loads and impacts. Through such a complex and the results of its applied activity, society, through the institutions, will be able to control the seismic security of significant new and existing structures in Bulgaria and their components. In the seismically dangerous Balkan region, only in Bulgaria there is no such laboratory complex for the prevention and management of seismic risk.
