The creative workshop Sofia Service Jam gathered non-standard thinkers and innovative participants who took part between the period of 29th and 31st of March for the fourth year. The event is part of the international initiative Global Service Jam which takes place in more than 120 cities around the world and represents a 48-hour intensive service design challenge.
The host and again one of the main partners of the event was Sofia Tech Park. The main organiser was NGO InFormal.
Traditionally this year, the secret theme of Global Service Jam 2019 was announced at the beginning of the event to all of the participants and they had 48 hours to interpret, associate it with a problem and develop prototypes for an innovative product or service. In 2019, the global theme of the initiative was BLUE with a black font on a yellow background. Participants developed interesting prototypes thanks to the professional mentors who helped them pass through the design thinking processes.
Among the team ideas were CSR solutions which improve the motivation of employees through innovative board games with the only aim to communicate on topics different from the work ones and to reduce the tension. Interest also prompted a play for children aged between 4 and 6 by helping parents discover the interests and talents of their children. There was also a solution for the urban environment as a mobile application for shared trips where both passengers and drivers to be registered, and the platform automatically to select people with the same routes. The placemaking idea for temporary built furniture in the urban environment which is meant to be made of recycled materials got a huge interest as well. The core aim is to change the attitude of Sofia residents towards the city.
All participants received the award to visit SmartFabLab which will help them develop their ideas through the Lab Accelerator and by using its capabilities for a month.
Sofia Service Jam community will continue to monitor and support the projects’ development process.
