The Sofia Science Festival for the second year in Sofia Tech Park.

For the second consecutive year, Sofia Tech Park hosts the Sofia Science Festival, organized by the British Council – Bulgaria with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, Sofia Municipality and other partners.

The event was opened at a ceremony attended by Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Deputy Mayor of the Capital Todor Chobanov, Executive Director of Sofia Tech Park AD Todor Mladenov, British Council Director – Bulgaria Lubov Kostova, representatives of the European Commission Bulgaria, Ambassador of Great Britain to Bulgaria Emma Hopkins, students, volunteers, participants in the festival and guests.

“We are extremely pleased that the first science and technology park hosts this very interesting and useful event for another year,” Todor Mladenov, executive director of Sofia Tech Park AD, said in his address to participants and visitors. He thanked all the partners for the fruitful collaboration and wished success to the participants. Mladenov stressed that Sofia Tech Park is already becoming a place and home where science, education, entrepreneurship and innovative thinking, technologies are in the works. “In the next few days, children who are curious and interested in knowledge and science will be part of the science and technology park. They will be able to meet with scientists who develop their ideas and projects in the high-tech laboratory complex of the park. Our team supports and shares the noble mission of this event – to promote science amongst the youngest and to help expand their thinking”, said the executive director. Scientists will present interesting scientific facts from the areas in which they work, demonstrate experiments, present different perspectives. “You will have the opportunity to ask them and they will give you their expert opinion on interesting topics for you,” Mladenov commented and wished all visitors a fun experience at the festival. The Chief Executive Officer announced that Sofia Tech Park will open an interactive museum exposition, which will focus on the youngest and the biggest science and technology enthusiasts.

The program of the festival offers nearly 100 events that are aimed at audiences of all ages. They will include over 80 scientists from 17 countries. In addition to events, the festival also offers over 50 booths with experiments and demonstrations where you can see and test science in action. The Discoverer and Zone 42 zones will work throughout the festival and do not require a pass or ticket.

Sofia Tech Park has its own stand in the Discoverer Zone. Visitors will be able to get familiar with the scientists at the Park’s Lab Complex to learn more about their work.

The festival will be available until May 13, 2018.
