BioInfoTech (bioinformatics)

About the Laboratory

BioInfoTech Laboratory works in the field of Bioinformatics, Bioautomatics and Bioengineering. We are developing the latest industries in Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology, Biomedical Instrumentation and Bioinformatics.

Activities

Current Activities
  • Implementation of the latest technologies in areas such as genetics (next generation DNA sequencing, CRISPR), metagenomics, biomedical equipment for reproductive medicine, microfluids, new bioprocesses, etc.
  • Implementation of the latest technologies in areas such as genetics (next generation DNA sequencing, CRISPR), metagenomics, biomedical equipment for reproductive medicine, microfluids, new bioprocesses, etc.
  • Implementation of new sequencing technologies that lead to the rapid reading of a single DNA molecule within 10-15 minutes.
  • Development of new indexing software for metagenomics that can detect all biological species existing in an environmental, nutritional or medical sample within a few hours.
  • Work with newly discovered metabolic capabilities of bacteria to generate methane from electricity.
  • We develop our own gluten detection devices.
  • We also created the first Bulgarian student team in synthetic biology, which won a silver medal in its field at the iGEM 2017 Competition in Boston (Massachusetts).
