Scientists from the Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory of Sofia Tech Park demonstrated their last developments during the International Technical Fair 2019 in Plovdiv, which took place from 23rd to 28th September 2019.
At the stand of the laboratory the visitors could see the “Digital Ink” exhibit, which features augmented reality works of art. Great interest to the audience was the interactive AR and VR which are developed from the scientists under the “Conglomerate” project, implemented jointly with UBA.
The VR app of the project is the first virtual exhibition of Bulgarian stage and screen art that offers the audience a new type of experience – the feeling of being “in” the play, on stage, in touch with the theatrical setting. The VR app allows users to look behind the scenes or onstage and watch part of selected performances from different angles. The AR app offers 54 selected theater productions for observation. Once active and selected, all productions have beautifully structured team information, set designer biography, selected photo / video material. 11 sixes attract the attention of visitors with the fact that they contain performances that can be viewed through “augmented reality” original props – dolls, masks, costumes, scenery.
The Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory of Sofia Tech Park shares a stand with Momentum Digital Studio Sofia, with whom they are jointly implementing a new scientific development.
The International Technical Fair is one of the most prestigious in the exhibition industry of Southeastern Europe and has been identified as a key forum for business contacts and a starting point for entering new markets. It presents the most promising trends in today’s economy with exposures to innovative technologies, machines and modern solutions for industry and home. Its 75th edition offers even more opportunities for effective presentation of companies and their products, as well as a number of benefits for participants.
In the 2018 edition 586 companies took part from which 225 Bulgarian and 361 foreign.
Experts from the Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory of Sofia Tech Park also took part in the International Puppet Theater Festival for Adults “PIERO”, which took place in Stara Zagora between 24th and 29th September 2019. There, again they have demonstrated the interactive AR and VR that were developed for the “Conglomerate” project.
On September 27th the scientists will participate in the European Scientist’s Night in Sofia Tech Park, where the audience will have the opportunity to hear the experts how the VR and AR apps are developed and how the education can be fun.
